Hello - my name is Maia. My family and I moved to Darrington at the start of 2022, but I have been baking for much longer than that. My fondest memories are forcing my friends in high school to bake cookies with me before football games, and eating the pineapple rolls my mom bakes every Christmas. From home baking I worked in my first industrial bakery in Spokane while I was in college. We sold to restaurants and grocery stores all over the city. Years later I found the real magic of commercial baking - mom and pop shops. I answered an ad on instagram, and found myself working for my, now, best friend in her pie shop in northern Idaho. The buzz and love surrounding this shop was electric and stuck with me all of these years. She has since passed the torch, and loads of knowledge, on to me.

Opening Lonely Mountain was a breeze with the Darrington Community behind me. Donations of produce, time, effort, and shows of good faith are what gave this bakery life. From the folks at River Time Brewing and Long Hearing Farm, to all of the good people saving my contact as “Maia Rhubarb” or “Maia Blueberries” to let me know when the fruits of their properties ripened, I couldn’t have done it without them.
